Terms of use

Cifonauta image database content is available under a Creative Commons Attribution / Non-Commercial / Share-Alike 3.0 / Unported (CC BY-NC-SA 3.0) license. This license allows sharing and reuse of text and images (photos and videos) for non-commercial activities without prior consent, as long as the source and authors are properly cited and distributed under a compatible license.

Authors are the copyright holders of their images. Cifonauta database only has a non-exclusive permission to make the materials available under the terms above. For this reason, if you are interested in using any image for commercial purposes or under different license terms you must negotiate with the author directly. Use our email address indicating the image of interest and we will forward your message to the author: .

We opted for a flexible license to maximize (re)using of content for scientific outreach and other educational purposes and still give proper attribution to authors. We count with you to help us fulfill this goal. When sharing, using, distributing an image do not forget to cite the author and, if possible, a link back to this website. Thanks!

How to cite

We suggest the templates below, but accept variations as long as the author(s) is(are) cited:

Photos and videos

Cite the database itself
