Barnacles are an entirely marine group of crustaceans with a sessile way of life, attached permanently to a hard substrate, such as rocks, shells, corals, roots etc.
The blue crab is a common species on the coast of São Paulo, occurring next to mangroves and estuaries. Commercially important for humans, it is also a food resource for birds and other aquatic organisms along the coast.
